Job Advert Generator

See the difference between a job spec and a job advert

The same role written twice, once as an internal specification, once as something a candidate might actually respond to.

Purpose of the role
You will own renewal and expansion outcomes for Northbank Software's enterprise
portfolio, roughly 30 accounts between £50,000 and £200,000 ARR, and set the
standard for how the wider Customer Success team works with accounts of that size.

Key responsibilities
- Own the renewal cycle end to end across approximately 30 enterprise accounts,
  including forecasting and commercial negotiation.
- Identify and progress expansion opportunities within existing accounts.
- Use product usage data to identify accounts at risk before the risk is visible
in the relationship, and act on it.
- Mentor two junior Customer Success Managers.
- Feed recurring customer themes back to Product and Support.

Essential requirements
- Experience managing enterprise SaaS customers through a full renewal cycle,
with personal ownership of the commercial conversation.
- Confident working with product usage data to reach a judgement about account health.
- Experience supporting or mentoring less experienced colleagues.

Desirable
- Experience in a product-led growth motion.
- Familiarity with Gainsight or a comparable customer success platform.

Senior Customer Success Manager

Northbank Software · Manchester (hybrid) · £60,000

Hook

Most customer success roles hand you a renewal number and a dashboard. This one hands you the thirty accounts that matter most to Northbank Software, and the authority to decide how we work with them.

Interest

You will own renewals and expansion across our enterprise portfolio, accounts between £50,000 and £200,000 ARR, from forecast through to the commercial conversation. Nobody else runs that conversation for you.

You will also set the engagement model the rest of the team follows, and mentor two junior CSMs who will learn how to handle an enterprise account by watching how you handle yours.

Desire

We take usage data seriously here. You will have the instrumentation to see an account drifting weeks before it shows up in a conversation, and the remit to act on it rather than escalate it. When a recurring problem is costing us renewals, you are the person who takes that to Product, and it gets prioritised.

Must-haves (capped at three)

  • You have taken enterprise SaaS customers through a full renewal cycle and owned the commercial conversation yourself.
  • You are comfortable reaching a judgement about an account from its usage data.
  • You have supported or mentored less experienced colleagues.

Package

£60,000. Permanent, full time. Manchester, hybrid with three days on site.

Call to action

If you have run enterprise renewals and want a portfolio you can actually shape, send us your CV. We reply to every application within five working days.

The part labels are shown here to make the structure visible. In the product you receive the advert as a finished document, without them.

Complete: it has to define the role internallySelective: it has to earn twenty minutes from someone already employed

The advert is shorter, but it does not get there by dropping things you said mattered: every skill marked essential in the brief survives into the must-haves. What it drops is the material that exists for internal definition: the desirables, the exhaustive responsibility list, and the framing of the role as a business need rather than an opportunity.

Assumptions and limits (4)
  • The advert is generated from the specification shown alongside it, not from a separate brief.
  • It is a draft for review. Package, benefits, employer branding and any regulated wording need your sign-off before publication.
  • Salary is displayed because the source specification states it. The agent can also produce an anonymised advert that names neither the employer nor the rate.
  • Northbank Software is fictional, as is the role.

Why this matters

A job specification and a job advert are different documents with different jobs to do, and posting the first as if it were the second is one of the most common and most expensive habits in hiring. A specification exists to define a role internally: complete, precise, exhaustive about requirements. An advert exists to persuade someone who is currently employed elsewhere, reading on a phone, to spend twenty minutes applying. Exhaustiveness is a virtue in the first document and a defect in the second.

Read the rest of the background

Taligent's Job Advert Generator takes an approved specification and writes the candidate-facing version: an opening that leads with what the role offers rather than what the company requires, responsibilities expressed as the work someone will actually do, a small number of genuine must-haves rather than the full requirements list, and a clear closing action. Skills you marked as essential in the brief are carried through: the advert is shorter than the spec, but not because it quietly dropped the things you said mattered.

Both documents are shown below so the difference is visible rather than asserted. The advert is a draft for your review: employer branding, package details and any regulated wording are yours to confirm before it is published anywhere.
